Welcome to my little corner of the Web. Here you'll find out a little about me and my interests.
If you are visiting the site, and also share the Wetjen name, I've included some family information as well.
My interest in amateur radio started at age 15, while I was in High School. I had a friend who was a ham, and a member of the Ham Radio Club in school. Having become interested in radio by listening to him making contacts, I joined the school's radio club. It was here, where club members taught me the Morse Code needed to pass my test. In between studying the electronic theory, I used the club station to make many on-the-air contacts, before even taking my license exam.
I took and passed my license exam, and received my Novice license on December 24, 1976, and "officially" became known as WD4AHZ.
About 4 years and two trips to the Tampa FCC office later, I upgraded to General. I currently hold an Extra class license - passing the 20 Word per Minute code test to do so.
My Amateur Radio operations include:
In July 2000, I helped operate W1AW/4 as part of the Florida Contest Group's effort to put the ARRL's Headquarters station on the air during the IARU Contest.
I've operated several multi-op operations with other members of the Florida Contest Group, and have done several mobile operations during the Florida QSO Party.
Occasionally, I'll use the Sarasota Emergency Radio Club's callsign, NJ4M, as part of my contest activities.
